A striking early 20th Century silvered bronze Art Deco car mascot modelled as a stylised horse rearing. The bronze exhibiting excellent hand finished surface detail and fine colour, raised on a shaped wooden base, signed Becquerel and impressed with foundry mark Susse Freres Paris

ABOUTAndre-Vincent Becquerel

 Andre-Vincent Becquerel(French, 1893 ~ 1981) Born at St. Andre-Farivilliers, he studied under Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier. He specialised in animal sculpture, showing a marked preference for predator, feline and ornithological subjects, which he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1914 to 1922 and where he became a lifetime member.
