Below the castle / castle ruins are mountain villages, alpine pastures, a small lake, a river with small boat and rower. In the foreground a rider on a horse with filled baskets, on his left a young woman. Inscribed on the right - center - PJB - for Philipp Jakob Bauer on thick clay paper.  There are two collection stamps on the image. Lower left and upper left, the latter with inscription and date. Philipp Jakob Bauer from Frankfurt studied at the Academy in Vienna after 1815. After his stay in Vienna, he settled in Frankfurt as an architectural and theater painter, so that this work must have been created during his time in Vienna around 1817. The high-quality pencil drawing is discreetly heightened in white - lake, river, clouds and foreground. Very well preserved, but damaged in the upper left margin, partially torn. However, this unfortunate damage is covered by the passepartout.
