This Wiley Churchill (1900-1987) water-color painting of a Louisiana swamp scene was purchased in 1949-1950 by the Lally Family who lived in New Orleans until 1964. The Family collected many Louisiana artist works. In 1964 the Family moved to Opelousas, Louisiana and lived there until their deaths. Painting has never been offered for sale or auction. May be the last original Wiley Churchill painting to be offered for sale. The painting hung in the Lally den until recent estate sale.

Painting is in excellent condition with colors still very vivid. Border is a little age discolored but also in very good condition. Painting was framed by the Parish Arts Store in New Orleans (to my knowledge, this store is no longer in business). Frame and backing is original time period.

Artist signed and dated the painting in the lower right corner. Though many of Wiley Churchill's paintings were named, to my knowledge, this painting is not named.
