This man embodies a noble warrior figure, ready to defend his homeland and his honour, with an outfit and posture that magnifies his high social status. The szabla and costume, in particular the cloak thrown over the shoulders and the headdress, recall the nobles of the szlachta, the Polish nobility that played a central role in politics and in the defence of Poland over the centuries. Ready to draw his sword from its scabbard, evoking Jan Reszke's participation in the 1863 uprising. History is emphasized in “918” year of real importance with the advent of the Piast dynasty, traditionally considered the first ruling dynasty of Poland. Completed by the addition of "25-II" evoking the 25-11-1918 end of the First World War, 14 days after the signing of the Armistice of November 11. Jan Styka, often depicted heroic and historical figures, noble defenders of the homeland, archetypes of Polish warriors of the past, typical of Polish nationalist artistic works.
