A rare photo by German-Estonian photographer Beate Clodt von Jürgensburg. Although it is known that she was a student of the Fotoschule München under Willy Zielke, much remains to be researched about this very talented photographer.
This portrait of a peasant is typical of the early 1930ies in Germany, following the footsteps of August Sander, who's portfolio of archétypes "Antlitz der Zeit" was published just a few years earlier, in 1928.
It is part of our collection of photographs by Beate Clodt.
