This gouache, tempera and watercolour painting is signed and dated by the artist "HMP’31" [Hermann Max Pechstein 1932] in the lower right image.
It was painted in 1932 and depicts the artist's second wife, Martha

Condition: Very good condition. The work has been varnished. There are fine lines of craquelure visible under close inspection of the gouache elements. There is a soft, unobtrusive abrasion in the subject’s hair. Laid to canvas, as described, in 1955.
