This is a partial homage to David Hockney's art. In this painting I explored the interplay of realism and symbolism through the figurative use of acrylic. The central figure, clad in black with leather gloves and a pensive expression, contrasts with the serene, verdant landscape behind her. I aimed to capture the multifaceted nature of solitude and contemplation, juxtaposing the quiet inner world against the expansive, lively background. This piece invites into a narrative of introspection and the nuanced balance between presence and absence in human experience.
For texture, a paste with glass particles was applied and polished. Dutch acrylic paints Amsterdam and Italian canvas tm Unico were used. The finish is varnish, and the ends are painted. Part of the "Life in Avatar" series it is created on and shipped on a pre-stretched canvas on a wooden frame. The painting is packed in a cardboard box with bubble wrap. The artwork is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
