Julio Larraz is a Cuban painter known for his realistic representations of daily life in the Caribbean.
Influenced by Surrealism and in particular by Giorgio de Chirico, Larraz's artworks present Cuban cultural images such as bullfights, complete with white linen and maritime scenes.
Although often alludes to the corruption of political and social power, the cropped compositions and obscured faces make the narratives of his paintings ambiguous.
