Description de l'oeuvre

Il Gabbiano is a great sculpture of the series "Bestiario" (Venini, Murano, 1987), made of multi-colored reed crystal blown glass in lattimo, gray, burgundy and black. Structure in patinated bronze casting, spout in red glass paste, eyes in crystal glass and dark amethyst.
The designer is Toni Zuccheri, born in 1936. Graduated from the Academy of Architecture in Venice, around 1961 Toni joins Venini and gets to know the amazing art of glass making by collaborating with Gio Ponti.
Toni Zuccheri is the instigator of many experiments on glass. He was the first person to mix pasty glass with raw materials such as copper, mineral pigments, murrines and even bronze.

Alongside vase drawing, Toni imagines a bestiary composed of fantastic birds and animals such as a hoopoe, backyard birds like hens, roosters and guinea fowls and also seagulls, gulls and ducks.

Signed "Venini TZ 87 3" on the base and bearing the labels of the manufacture.
