William John Huggins 1781-1845 was a British marine painter, a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy London.  The marine painter to both George IV and William IV.


He maintained a valuable record of marine art of the period.  This painting, oil on panel, is of the Chain Pier, Brighton, which sustained serious damage during a heavy storm in the 19th Century and was effectively destroyed, a rare image of the period.
