The ancient wooden buildings in Kolomenskoye attracted my attention as a child. This Mokhovaya tower is one of the seven towers of the Sumy fort. Initially, the fort was erected in the 1580s in the Pomeranian possessions of the Solovetsky Monastery. Ostrog repelled Swedish attacks many times. In 1931, on the initiative of Pyotr Baranovsky, the dilapidated Mokhovaya Tower was transported to Kolomenskoye. I chose a motif with a view of the tower through the foreground of trees already starting to turn green. Being in the shadows, the viewer is gradually immersed in the environment of the picture, approaching the historical object. The tower stands on a slight elevation, which allows it to be correlated with a defensive structure.
