Arrigo Wittler ( born April 8 , 1918 in Heeren-Werve , today Kamen ; † August 17 , 2004 in Worpswede ) was a German painter.

Wittler studied painting and art history at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In 1952 he received the Jung-Westfalen Art Prize . In the mid-1950s he moved to Italy, where he made his main residence for over 20 years on the islands of Procida and later on Ischia .

He achieved his very personal signature in art through further studies, including at the University of Heidelberg , where he gained insights into modern science. From then on he painted pictures that dealt with modern science and the massification of humanity. His work is considered to be extremely extensive and varied.
