Li Di was born in Yakeshi City, Inner Mongolia in 1963, and his ancestral home is Weifang, Shandong. In 1982, he was admitted to the First Studio of the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In his early paintings, the characteristics of brushwork are very obvious, but they are expressionist brushstrokes that show his personality and personal emotions. His painting trajectory during the twenty years in Germany is clearly visible. However, it is after returning to China to set up a studio in 2010 that caused a fundamental change in his painting style. An obvious feature of Li Di's new works is repetition and repetition, which is the language logic of meditation painting, just like monks repeating scriptures, focusing on a melody. There is no desire or emotion here, all the curves are cut off, repeating blocks of the same length, vertically and horizontally in the space. The shape repeats and repeats, and the brush strokes also repeat and repeat.
