Ding Shaoguang (1939), an outstanding Chinese-American artist, a master of modern heavy color painting, graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now the Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University).

In 1990, at the Tokyo International Art Exhibition in Japan, he was selected as one of the 100 most outstanding art masters in the world since the 14th century, ranking 29th, and he was the only Chinese artist selected.  In 1996, the "'Ding Shaoguang Award' National Art Exhibition" named after him was held in the National Art Museum of China. In 1997, he created a huge work "Goddess of Art" at the Shanghai Grand Theater. In 2017, he published the biography "Birds of Paradise: Ding Shaoguang's Art Paradigm" , and cooperated with a sculptor to create the sculpture "Harmony" for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
