Alonso-Pérez, a born artist from a family of painters in Saragossa, grew up exploring the remnants of various cultural traditions that shaped the city. He received guidance from his father, Mariano, who favoured costume scenes and genre paintings in the style of Mariano Fortuny. In Paris, he made his mark in 1901, exhibiting his light-hearted genre scenes at the Salon des artistes français exposition annuelle des beaux-arts. His work, influenced by Impressionist approaches to colour and light, found favour among bourgeois collectors. Alonso-Pérez also created designs for woven silk tapestries and lithographs, demonstrating his ambition to expand his geographic horizons in an increasingly international art market. His unique blend of historical and contemporary elements, combined with his artistic talent and commercial savvy, made him a notable figure in the art world of his time.
