Few Cuban artists have developed a body of work as coherent and original as that of José Bedia. Although he is one of the most outstanding examples in the history of art in Cuba and Latin America, and he has also received international acknowledgement, his true importance has not yet been fully recognized.

Bedia was given a huge retrospective covering nearly 5 decades of work at the MARCO Museum of Monterrey Mexico recently, and that has gotten a lot of press and attention. That was a monumental show featuring 102 works. Likewise he will be part of an important group show at the MoMA in NY in a couple of months.

In addition to over 150 solo shows, Bedia has work in the dozens of permanent museum collections.
