This painting is called October because it was completed in October 2021. It is expressive in style and also brings together clippings from my journals, one of my drawings of a Scotland map and also writings, relating to how I felt at the time of painting.
I love to journal and sketch and used previous material I had done in October 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. I always think there is a reason why you do something, however I had no idea in October 2021 that I would be drawing on work and writing that I had done over the previous years. Despite being completed in 2021, this work includes references to at least four years of my life.
