Partial photo shown. The Cezanne landscapes of the Mont Sainte Victoire in Provence influenced this invitation to overtake the good old days preceeding the Ist WW. This pre-war innocence is in the abandoned paradise of the radiant beige orange yellow center. The Escape to Egypt of Mary and Jesus on a donkey fearing the Romans was also willing to escape the danger. The subject makes sense, knowing that they will not return in Cortivallo after this spring of 1923. The landscape being animated by horizontal tracings and juxtaposed color masses. These complex blocks of color, the thickness of the oil material are only completed by smooth large lines. The whole structures the scene, creating depth and a sophisticated rural landscape with its preserved center space. These delicate tones, alluding to the spring season, separate the rolling hills from the village left by the donkey and its rider. 14 pages study on request.
