Description:

This oil on canvas painting forms part of a collection by Brenda Johnston depicting British scenes of every day life. It is a scene of buildings and boats at the quayside of a harbour.

About the Artist: 

BRENDA JOHNSTON (b. 1930) 

Artist in various media, born in London. She attended Epsom School of Art, 1948–9 and 1955–60, teachers including the watercolourist Leslie Worth, then Reigate School of Art, 1961–5, with Eric Waugh.

Brenda was a member of Free Painters and Sculptors and several local art clubs near where she lived in Ashtead, Surrey. Artist's works featured in the permanent collection of the National Trust. She had a series of solo exhibitions and also showed at RA Summer Exhibition, RBA and exhibitions abroad.
