While the plate was created in 1939, this is a rare, signed trial proof from outside of the noted impressions from 1942 (Baer notes 54 unsigned proofs from this year); this image wasn't published until 1961 in an edition of 65.

A note on condition: this extremely rare trial proof impression is nearly flawless, with a tiny rust spot on the verso, not showing through.
