Description de l'oeuvre

A haunting life-sized mask imprinted with a pattern of dotted lines is cast in bronze by Dale Dunning. From the early part of Dunning's career, this mask reflects themes that the artist continues today. The generic human head and face are metaphors for human experience. This work may have been inspired by Igbo masks from Nigeria.

This sculpture is 3 in an edition of 7. It is stamped and signed by the artist on the back.

Dale Dunning holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree (1971) from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. While earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (1969) from Mt. Alison University, he studied under Lawren P. Harris (son of Group of Seven member Lawren S. Harris) and George Tiessen.
