A British Victorian artist and member of the “British Research Foundation”. His paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
In 1872 Harper spent time in Palestine and Cairo, painting landscapes. His interest in the Middle East derived from it’s connection to biblical events. His travel books, “Journey of a painter in the Land of the Bible” and ” Journeys in the Land of Israel” were published and gained wide popularity and recognition, as did other documentary journey books of The Land of Israel.
