YBA Damien Hirst's Spin paintings are described by the artist as "childish .
in the positive sense of the word". They stand in stark contrast to his
formulaic spot series. The results of the spins are controlled purely by the
artist's color choices and the motion of the machine. "I really like making
them. And I really like the machine, and I really like the movement. Every
time they're finished, I'm desperate to do another one."

In this case, Hirst combined his Spin painting method with one of his
best-known themes, the Skull, which reminisces his diamond encrusted 2007
sculpture "For the Love of God". It is the perfect marriage of the artist's
twin passions.
