Comments: An expatriate Impressionist painter, he lived in France for 40 years, teaching a night class at the AcadÈmie Julian in Paris from 1902-on, and a life class there from 1907-on. He took many sketching trips in Europe, visiting Brittany, Spain and Belgium, also returning home to San Francisco for visits and exhibitions. At the outbreak of WWII he returned home permanently.
