biographie de J. HILLYARD (XIX)

Addresses: NYC, active 1840

Profession: Painter

Exhibited: NAD, 1876

Comments: Painted dioramas for the Haningtons (of NYC, see entries for Henry and William J. Hanington) in 1840. May be related to the Henry Hillyard who was listed as a panoramist in NYC and Brooklyn from 1842 through 1863. He could also be related to the J. Hillyard (see entry) who exhibited at the NAD in 1876; but because of the time difference it is unlikely they are the same artist. Cf. Henry Hillyard, J. Hillyard, and William H. Hilliard.
